Machuskyi Serhii MD

Vascular and endovascular surgeon, phlebologist. Current member of ESCVS and EVF.

He graduated with honors from the Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, was the winner of the All-Ukrainian Olympiads and competitions in topographic anatomy, pathophysiology, operative and general surgery, and was a scholarship holder of the nationwide private program Zavtra.UA. Further training in the specialty "surgery" took place on the basis of the departments of vascular and endovascular surgery, transplantation, general surgery and cardiac surgery of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital.


He is an active member of such communities as the European Atherosclerosis Society (AES), European Digestive Surgery (EDS) and the European Society of CardioVascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESCVS).


Author and co-author of more than 20 scientific articles relating to the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases and transplantation issues, co-author of one declarative patent of Ukraine for an invention.


He is fluent in low-traumatic types of surgical interventions in the vessels of the lower and upper extremities:


endovenous thermal methods of saphenous vein ablation for varicose veins (laser coagulation, radiofrequency ablation)
the most modern methods of adhesive obliteration of the saphenous veins (VenaBlock, VariClose, VenaSeal)
all types of vein sclerotherapy (echo-controlled, foam-form sclerotherapy using transilluminescence, and microsclerotherapy using magnifying systems)
use of platelet-rich plasma and cell therapy using vascular growth factors (PRP + VEGF) for patients with peripheral arterial atherosclerosis.
formation of all types of vascular accesses in patients requiring hemodialysis.
Annually presents the results of scientific work at international conferences as a speaker. He takes part in European master classes and training courses related to endovascular therapy and phlebology, introducing the principles of evidence-based medicine and the most modern methods of treating vascular diseases into daily practice.


2016 – Internships at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the departments of oncovascular and minimally invasive surgery of the National Cancer Institute (Kyiv, Ukraine).


2016 – Internship in the departments of vascular and endovascular surgery of the Grodno Regional Clinical Hospital and the Grodno Regional Clinical Cardiology Center (Grodno, Belarus).


2017 – Ultrasound Learning Area master classes on the use of ultrasound methods for assessing diseases of the abdominal aorta and ESSAT Surgical Learning Area while participating in 2017 UEG Week (Barcelona, Spain).


2018 — Participation in a practical training course on the principles of building high-quality medical research UEG Young Investigators Meeting (Vienna, Austria).


2018 — Participation in the Ukrainian Trauma Life Support, Patriot Defense Course, with the participation of American instructors, where he gained skills in helping patients with polytrauma and peripheral vascular injuries (Kyiv, Ukraine).


2018 – Participation in master classes on ultrasound diagnosis of abdominal vascular diseases during participation in the ECYG conference and presentation of a report on the long-term results of mesenteric-portal shunting (Zagreb, Croatia).


2019 – Participation in the ESCVS Summer School “Bypass in Cardiac and Vascular Surgery”, dedicated to the issues of bypass surgery and a master class on the formation of various types of vascular anastomoses (Istanbul, Turkey).


2019 — Participation in a course aimed at gaining skills in the use of international approaches and evidence-based medicine in routine clinical practice UEG Evidence Based Medicine Course (Barcelona, Spain).


2019 — Completed a training course from the International Union of Phlebology and the Australasian College of Phlebology, which includes modern world approaches in the diagnosis and management (treatment) of diseases of the veins of the lower extremities.


2020 - Participation in SITEUpdate 2020 On-Air dedicated to endovascular methods for the treatment of peripheral arterial diseases as a speaker.
